Ma Mon Luk: Revisiting an Old-Favorite
I remembered my childhood days with Ma Mon Luk’s Siopao
because Mom always had some siopao as her pasalubong
to us – her kiddos! – whenever she’s been in Quiapo. And, it’s been a while
since I last visited and ate at Ma Mon Luk Restaurant in Quiapo, Manila City. So,
when P and I attended mass last last Friday at Quiapo Church we see to it that
we had our merienda in Ma Mon Luk.
Years have passed and yet everything stays the same. The
taste of siopao paired with flavorful
soup still the best in town. The mami
with lots of toppings still taste good. The interior design of the restaurant looks
old but then the taste of the foods they were serving are still succulent as
the time goes by.
Three generations have succeeded already since the Ma
Mon Luk’s death on September 21, 1961. If you are a food tripper then I would
highly suggest that you have to try Ma Mon Luk’s Mami and Siopao, a restaurant
that is already written in the history and still stands out because of its
consistent scrumptious taste.
As of this writing, Ma Mon Luk has only two branches – Quezon Boulevard, Quiapo and Banawe, Quezon Ave.
Ooops, it’s raining... Ma Mon Luk’s Mami is absolutety perfect at this moment. ☺
Have a fun and great weekend!
